Closure Programs and Business Solutions can aid your company’s strategic planning. State environmental agencies such as the TCEQ currently have closure programs that reduce the liability associated with impacted properties. These programs may help change properties from challenges to opportunities. Most states have Voluntary Cleanup Programs, which can provide “closure” for impacted properties at an accelerated pace. Some states, such as Texas, also have Innocent Owner and/or Operator Programs that provide relief from environmental liability for innocent parties. Tax credits are available for the remediation of “Brownfields” (potentially contaminated properties in metropolitan areas). In some states and circumstances, reimbursements for some environmental expenses are still available for some sites in the Leaking Underground Storage Tank programs.
